Palette and Patio

Colour Palettes in Action

Here are some simple diagrams of the rooms. I'm making some assumptions here. First, that the carpet will match eventually. Second, that the furniture and decorations will match eventually.

First Floor Kitchen

I know it looks plain, but I don't have the artistic skill to add green highlights to the linoleum and the walls. The orangey colour will come from the existing cabinets, which are really more brown. Plus, there will be at least one (living) plant.

First Floor Living/Dining Room

This is the living/dining room facing north (back of the house). It has a nice golden wood floor, with an open entry to the kitchen. Outside the window will be a patio. Right now, I have no furniture for this part of the house, so it's wide open.

First Floor Living/Dining Room

Here's the other half of the living/dining room. There's a window-type thing right next to the front door, and a wide archway right in front of the stairs going up. There are a lot of details in this part of the house that I can't draw very well.

First Floor Washroom

This little washroom off the foyer is pretty good. The ceiling is already painted black. The walls, however, are a kind of salmon colour, which I tolerate. I'm hoping to make them a brighter red. The ceramic tile on the floor right now is pink, too.

Second Floor Bedroom/Office

This is where I spend most of my day right now, at the computer. I like the colour blue. It's not a crime.

Second Floor Bedroom/Spare and Bathroom

One of my friends said the dark green was a big mistake. But then he likes pale pastels, too. Actually, I haven't decided yet if the blue slate should go on the bottom or the top. In the bathroom (not shown), I'll probably leave the walls white, and rely on the shower curtain, towels and other things for the other colours.

Second Floor Master Bedroom

The great thing about this colour scheme is that the walls are already the brownish colour that I like. It was the only decorating choice of the previous owners that I liked. Of course, the carpet is that evil pinkish-beige. The doorway here leads to the ensuite, which will have the same colours.

Second Floor Ensuite

This is a really bright room in the morning. I would have to buy a new shower curtain to match the towels that I already have.
